Retrospective
Shadow Hexagon » Devlog
With the completion of first solo game jam since the Java4K competition in 2011 I thought I'd leave some learnings that I had:
- I don't know if I'd have done this if I didn't have the complete idea in the first 24 hours. Focus that time on creativity, and find time to implement it in over the rest of the week.
- Graphics fiddling takes time. There's really only so much I can do by tweaking material settings, but that's my lot for now. I have to dive in and figure out what all of the different knobs are to prevent some of the artifacts that still exist on future games.
- Get feedback from the community early. I was able to fix a herky-jerky bug in the last hour of the submission deadline, but if it was something more substantial, I might have not had time.
Thanks to everyone who played, and I'll def be back for more!
